Goal Setting
Monday Blues no way….Monday is a great day to goal set for the week!
I spent a great weekend with my family this past Easter. I was telling my family how much I looked forward to my week. My cousins looked at me perplexed. How could that be?
It took me a long time to craft my life into what it looks like today. But, I would have sped that process up a lot more if I knew then what I knew now. Gratitude is everything.
That being said, one of the secrets to my success working with children and teens and young women, is that we always set goals. In this way, we can be grateful for when those little or big things get realized.
SETTING GOALS
Setting goals is an important part of creating the life you want. A lot of this blog is dedicated to little tricks and tips that I have created around setting goals.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU LOOK FORWARD TO MONDAYS
Ask yourself: what would make me look forward to Monday? Would it be a different job? A different school? Would it be a more secure job? Would it be more time with your significant other or your child(ren)? Would it be more travel?
MAKE ONE SMALL GOAL
Take 1 thing that would make you look forward to Monday and address that every week. One of the women I know loves to paint. Yet, every week at our group she would talk about how her easel had become a clothing rack. Is there some activity, hobby or dream that you are ignoring? After we spoke this past Saturday, she finally ended up going to the art store. I am looking forward to her sharing what happened this week with her painting!
TAKE ONE MICRO-STEP TOWARDS THAT GOAL EACH WEEK
My former assistant had a lot of trouble making steps towards her goals. So we started to make her Friday, her goal day. She would leave the office by a certain time to address the issues around her going back to school. First, it was a large debt that her school claimed she owed. After numerous calls and calls, she couldn't get it done. So, I advised her to go in person. Guess what? Her issue with the finance department got resolved that day.
Is there something that is standing in the way of getting something done? Have you called and called and not gotten anywhere? Why is it that the thing we want most becomes something so difficult to achieve? A lot of it has to do with how we handle it!
Take one mini step this week towards your goal!
