Routines to help us stabilize

Why-Routines-Benefit-Spiritual-Awakening.png

As is pretty obvious right now, I am a big advocate of routine.  Its not just because....I think the stability of routine activities are critical to our well being.

ROUTINES MAKE US HAPPY

The British Journal of Psychology published an article by Dinah Babad that clearly puts forth the idea that routines make us happy.  Whether it is a student sitting in the same chair every day or a young millennial grabbing coffee every morning at Starbucks, humans feel comfort when they have things they can count on.  Young students actually feel safer when they can sit in the same chair in their classroom every week.

PICK SOMETHING TO DO

Now that you have gotten into the routine of writing down your gratitude list, can you pick something you might want to do routinely?

Working Out: The benefits of working out are obvious.  But, the actual routine of going to a workout is actually beneficial in its own way.

Picking a Day to Do a Hobby:  Have you always wanted to cook?  Paint? Draw? Sing?  Start a bakery?  Go back to school?  Now that you are in the process of taking Steps towards goals, really take that next step.

Make a to-do list: Have the issues are just about knowing what to do next.  I encourage you to make a list of 1 goals and then all the micro=steps to work towards that goal!

My Gratitude List for April 5/6:

1.   I finished 1 draft of my book

2.  I interview some great candidates!

3.  I have incredible female friendships

4.  I have a great family (and I am so looking forward to Saturday family dinner)
