Getting Clear on what you want your life to look like

What never occurred to me was that we are constantly creating the life we want.

It seems so much easier when we are children to understand this principle.

We constantly sit and dream of the future and our future selves as adults with children and families and careers. Yet somehow as we age we veer starkly from that path.

The question is Why?

And how to you get back into alignment with the person you want and wish to be.

The truth is that the answers are actually all within us. We have all the knowledge, skills and fortitude we need if we can only turn inward and strengthen our ability to listen to our inner voice. The voice that tells us what we want to be.

The first step to really creating the life you want is sitting down alone with yourself and creating a list of what you want to create in the following areas:

  1. Professional / Career: Where do you see yourself in 1 year and then in 5 years.

  2. Spiritual: Do you have a religious or spiritual practice. Think meditation or buddhism. Did you recently stumble upon A Course in Miracles, etc.

  3. Financial: Save X a month. Or have enough to take five vacations a year.

  4. Partnership: Create a loving relationships. Propose to my girlfriend. Get married. etc.

  5. Family Goals: See my parents more. Have more family time with kids.

  6. Mental/Educational: Read a book a week. Take an online course and get certified in….

  7. Friendship: Have more friends over for dinner.

  8. Health & Wellness: Work out at least twice a week. Take up whole 30. Give up red meat.

  9. Community: Join a running group. Start a meditation club.

  10. Charity: Volunteer at _________________. Donate 5% of my earnings to X charity.

This is our way of communicating clearly with ourselves.

And don’t worry, the list will change as we clean up and clear up your relationship with you.

We will continually come back to this list to declutter and clarify your goals.
