Why a Gratitude list?

Every person has a different practice when it comes to creating and cultivating gratitude.  I like a list because I am not just grateful for 1 thing in my life.  Each day I really see how much I have already.

START WITH TODAY

Whether you are just coming to this website today, or you have just discovered this particular part of my website, I really want to walk the walk and talk the talk.

CAN YOU THINK OF ONE THING

I mentor a lot of people.  Many of those people come to me deeply unhappy.  Yet, I see so much in their life they have to be grateful for.  It's really a perception problem.  But, how do you go about changing someone's perception overnight?  It’s actually impossible. You simply cannot change someone by doing something 1 time.  It has to become a daily practice.  It has to become a lifestyle.

I usually have them look at one thing they are so happy they have.  It could be their sibling.  Their best friend.  It could be their home.  It could be a piece of art.

Have you thought of one thing?  One thing that you feel utterly lucky to have?

DO IT DAILY

Like exercise, cultivating gratitude is not something you can start and stop and come back to when you feel like it.  You have to do it daily.  It has to be a routine.

PICK A TIME

I actually like the mid-day to late afternoon.  It's well into my workday.  Its a time when I would otherwise check out of my day.  I am relaxed and most of the work I "needed to get done" got done.  So, instead of wasting this time getting on social media or otherwise cluttering my thoughts with other people's lives, I turn to my own.

Do you have a time that works best for you?

NOW WRITE YOUR ONE THING OR START WITH A LIST

I don't typically worry about what I write.  It could be the same list as yesterday.  It could be 1 thing like my dog Oliver.  It could be a multitude of things in my life I know have been hard-won.  It took me years to have the courage to rent an actual office space.  Then I got an office space in my dream location.  I don't take that for granted!

I write a list because I am also learning to cultivate abundance in my life.  When I write down more than one thing, I realize how truly blessed I am.

HERE IS MY LIST FOR TODAY (Friday, March 30, 2018):

1.   My Office Space because it is in my dream location

2.   My Dog Oliver because his love his unconditional.

3.   My female friendships because I have a sisterhood of friends that I truly appreciate.

** The photo above was a trip in which I really realized the power of female friendship.
